Not so pregnant yet - Trying for baby, the hard way / Mod PMA V1.2.2
### How to Start the PMA Mod - A Quick Guide
If you're unsure how to use the mod, follow these steps:
1. **Try for a Baby (at least twice)**
Before accessing PMA options, your Sim must attempt to conceive at least twice. The mod tracks these attempts, and I've set the threshold at two tries.
2. **Take a Fertility Test**
Use the fertility test on the toilet. If everything is set correctly, you'll receive a notification like "Having doubts?" after the test. This unlocks the PMA application on your Sim's phone.
---
**Note:**
I originally included only French and English strings, which caused issues for players using other languages. This has been fixed. Let me know if you need further assistance!
---
### Why This Mod?
After numerous "Try for Baby" attempts in every bed, bush, and even coffin, I realized something was missing. None of the existing pregnancy mods captured the essence of an assisted reproduction journey. So, I decided to create my own.
---
#### The Inspiration
I'm currently on a fertility journey in real life. This path is long, complex, and emotionally challenging. I wanted to bring these experiences into The Sims 4, adding a touch of realism, emotion, and, of course, pixels. But without excessive drama—after all, it's still a game.
---
#### What to Expect
- **Hidden Fertility Traits:** Each Sim is secretly assigned a fertility trait, adding an extra layer of realism.
- **Normal Fertility:** Sims have a 50% chance of getting pregnant when trying for a baby, more grounded than EA's magical 80%.
- **Reduced Fertility:** Sims with reduced fertility (due to female, male, or unexplained causes) can undergo insemination or IVF.
- **Absent Fertility:** For Sims with no fertility, IVF is mandatory—no shortcuts via hot tubs!
---
#### Protocol Steps
Each protocol involves several steps:
1. **Hormonal Injections:** Sims must call the fertility center to schedule injections, with 24-hour reminders.
2. **Sperm Collection:** The partner must visit the lab to collect sperm.
3. **Control Ultrasound:** Depending on the protocol, this could involve insemination or egg retrieval + IVF.
4. **Egg Retrieval Failure:** For Sims with female infertility, egg retrieval can now fail.
5. **Success Isn't Guaranteed:** Success isn't guaranteed, but Sims can try again in the next cycle.
6. **Pregnancy Blood Test:** A new test is required 24 hours after IVF or insemination to confirm results.
---
#### Organization and Support
To keep everything organized, Sims have access to a dedicated phone app:
- **Journey Tracker:** Monitor the type of infertility, current protocol, and number of injections.
- **Emotional Support:** A new support app provides emotional assistance, allowing Sims to discuss their journey with others.
---
#### Realism and Challenges
- **Fear of Never Having Children:** Sims now have a 5% chance of being permanently infertile, discovered only after trying to conceive.
- **Support Group Event:** A new social event, "Support Group," offers storytelling opportunities, continuing the emotional support theme.
---
#### Disabling the Mod
To desactivate the mod, use the cheat menu on your Sim's phone:
1. **Return to Standard Fertility:** Select "Set fertility" to revert to the game's default fertility system.
2. **Reactivate Fertility Traits:** If you want to use the mod again, choose "Set fertility" to assign a new fertility trait.
---
#### Compatibility Note
Unfortunately, the PMA mod is not compatible with:
- **MCCC (WooHoo module):** Remove the WooHoo module for the mod to work properly.
- **RPO (module 02):** Remove module 02 for the mod to function correctly.
---
**Important:**
The mod overrides "Try for Baby" interactions.
