Drama Generator - Runaway Child V 1.15 April 27 2026 Update
This mod adds new dramatic events that impact the storyline of your game. Two modules are currently available: "Abandoned Child" and "Missing Child."
MODULE 1: ABANDONED CHILD
This module adds a new event: there's a small chance a baby will be abandoned on your doorstep, and you'll have to decide what to do with it. You can trigger the event yourself by entering the cheat code testingcheats true -> Shift + click on the character -> "Twists of Fate" -> Start abandoned child event.
If you find a baby on your doorstep, you have several options:
1. Hand over to the police. To hand over the baby to the police, you need to get to the station. There, you can report the abandoned baby and leave the baby behind. Afterward, the baby will immediately disappear.
If you prefer, you can stay and "Give a statement." In a few days, the police will call you with news. You can force a call: Shift + click on the character → "Twists of Fate" -> Call the police with news about the case.
2. Hand over to child protection authorities. Calling the child protection authorities will allow you to hand over the child to them. However, you can also apply for temporary guardianship until a permanent family is found for the child.
When the child protection officer arrives, you can talk to them and, if desired, apply for guardianship. In two days, the child protection authorities will call to inform you whether the parents have been found and whether the child can be taken into guardianship. If the character has become attached to the child, they can talk to their partner about it. The partner's reaction will also vary.
You can force a call: Shift + click on the character → "Twists of Fate" -> Call the child protection authorities to apply for guardianship.
If the guardianship application is approved, the Sim will go down the rabbit hole and return with a notification of successful guardianship.
Within 24 in-game days, the guardianship authorities may call back and inform you that a permanent family has been found for the child. They will then come and pick up the child. This event can also be forced using the Shift + Click menu.
You can say goodbye to the child forever. This interaction is available until the adopted child reaches the teen age.
3. Adopt.
You can also talk to your significant other and make a joint decision. The Sim may choose to keep the child or refuse, depending on their feelings.
Also:
If you adopted a child, you can raise them as usual. When they become a toddler, you'll have the option to talk to them about adoption. They won't understand everything, but they'll grow up accepting it. Telling the truth when the child is older will make it harder for them to accept. This interaction is accompanied by special animations for children, teens, and adults.
If an adopted child is having a hard time accepting the truth, you can talk to them and help them through it. There's a chance they'll come to terms with it over time with support and conversation.
After learning about their adoption, an adopted child can try to find their biological parents online. The chances of success are slim, but it's worth a try. If you want to find a parent immediately, use the Shift + Click menu—either on the adoptive parent or on the child themselves. The biological parent will then appear on the lot immediately.
An adopted child can give their biological parent a big hug. There's a special animation for this interaction for teens and adults. Furthermore, the child will have exclusive conversation options with their biological parent.
MODULE 2: MISSING CHILD
This module adds a small chance that your child or teenager will run away from home. The event can also be triggered manually.
You can try to find the runaway by calling the police, handing out flyers, or posting a missing person post online.
If you choose to call the police, an officer will arrive at the station. You can give them details about the missing child, and there's a chance they'll be found within a few days.
You can order missing child flyers if you have a photo of the child in your inventory. If you don't have a photo, you can purchase flyers without pictures in Build Mode by searching for "missing child" or "pandasama."
Once the flyers are in your inventory, you can go out and hand them out to Sims. There's a small chance someone will recognize the missing child.
While your child is missing, you can use the "Sit and Cry Alone" interaction to cope with your grief. There's a small chance the child will return or pass by the house during this interaction. You can also share your grief with another Sim.
To try searching for the fugitive online, click on the computer and select "Post Missing Child." Check your post periodically. Someone might have information about their whereabouts.
You can use cheats to return the child: the "Initiate Police Retrieve Child" option will return them to your lot, and a call about a possible meeting will transport you to another lot to find them.
Once you've recovered the child, you can use the "Run to Child" interaction to hug them tightly and reunite with them.
When the child returns, you'll have six different ways to discuss the incident. The welcoming hug is accompanied by a custom animation.
