Military - historical project Victory Day mod.

The first in Russia global mod for the game Sudden Strike III is being prepared for the birth with extensive modification and complete resuscitation of the abandoned brainchild of Fireglow Games. At the moment, work is in full swing and soon a test build for the game will be available to the general public.

It should be noted that this will be the starting version of the game. And it lacks newfangled soundtracks, video trailers, a colorful menu and other "Hollywood stray". By the release and bringing the project to full combat readiness, everything will be redone, rebuilt and repainted more than once. And at this stage, the main goal of modding is to increase playability, but respecting as much historicity as possible, as well as returning to the traditions of the "Confrontation" series, but already on a 3-dimensional platform.

Everyone can become involved in the creation of a mod, and possibly a full-fledged new game. Any ideas and suggestions will be welcomed and implemented as far as possible. The game will gradually be filled with: new features, units, multi-maps, and single-player campaigns.

Chronicle of the history of Victory Day mod 

The game Sudden Strike III (Arms for victory), despite the transition to 3D graphics, was released by the developers very raw, in terms of both single singles and multiplayer, greatly disappointing fans of the series. What only negative comments were not awarded to the game. And all this was true only at first glance. There were also those who nevertheless unrolled the nondescript wrapper of the game and tasted it, and despite all the seemingly shortcomings, they saw a huge potential that could and should have been developed. But the developers did not indulge the game with additions and patches. This case could be corrected by modmakers, but editors and other tools were initially not available to the general public. Most of the players, spitting and rubbing, continued to play the previous parts of the game, not hoping that something would change.

After the release of the add-on to the game (The last stand), the game changed noticeably, and most importantly, an editor for maps and desks appeared, but the almost complete lack of information and manuals hampered the development of the mod. The team had to feel like pioneers on this empty and deserted path. Advice and help were nowhere to be found.

In the very backyards of the Internet, after browsing through foreign forums and sites, where sometimes no antivirus saves, the knowledge and experience of various enthusiasts gradually gathered. And this is probably the only case when the phrase "foreign countries will help us" was justified. It is fair to mention here the founder of the SSIII mods, this is the "Batus mod" of comrades from Germany. As well as a mod on the theme of modern conflicts. And a certain comrade - JOSS who left a lot of information and invaluable tips on the game on various forums.
For several years, work on the mod has been slowly but surely moving. And the players continued to look for at least something remotely similar to their favorite Sudden Strike in modern games. And unfortunately in this genre, there is not a big choice among colorful 3D “handicrafts”. There are, of course, individual exceptions, but still, "Confrontation" is primarily nostalgia to which one wants to return.

Despite the fact that Sudden Strike III is already overgrown with silt at the bottom of oblivion, like its creator Fireglow Games. Against all odds, the Victory Day team continued to work. Gaining experience, I began to introduce new units, textures, reworking the game, including in its bowels of the LUA code. Very large and historical single campaigns are planned. Perhaps even starting with pre-war conflicts, such as the Far East conflict on the ZhKVD, the civil war in Spain, the operation of Britain and the USSR in Iran, and not even ending with our victory at the ruins of the Reichstag and the defeat of the Kwantung Army. By linking these missions into a single plot, through which you can study the history of the famous and almost unknown battles of those years, which are worth remembering. And of course, the legendary multiplayer, in which the traditions of the Confrontation series will be returned and multiplied.
