TB's Coordinate Based Safe Zones v1.5

New safe areas to hide from emissions and psy-storms. Finally, you can hide in the apartment blocks in Dead City, plus several other buildings!

NOTE: To remove this addon, follow the instructions in changelog v1.1

NOTE: To remove this addon, save your game when an emission/psy-storm isn't happening, then quit and remove.

A new game is not required to use this addon.

Also, your NPC companions will still die a horrible death in the new locations.

The safety calculation is currently only done for the player.

I am attempting to solve this, NPC safe-zone calculation is strange!

For a long time now, I have been thinking: "Why isn't this building safe from an emission?" and after much trial and error, I have a functional solution!

During an emission or a psy-storm, this script checks to see if the player is within the bounds of the given coordinates (set per level) and appropriately switches on the "I'm standing in a safe place" flag, allowing you to now take shelter in the following locations:

  • All the apartment blocks in Dead City
  • The two undamaged halves of two damaged apartment blocks
  • Several of the houses in Dead City plus their cellars
  • The supermarket and the garage type building in Dead City
  • The two bunker huts in Great Swamps
  • The shop near the electro anomalies in The Meadow
  • The flooded basement in the office building in The Meadow
  • All three downstairs rooms in the Kopachy building in Jupiter
  • The underground room at the Substation in Jupiter
  • The undamaged part of the farmhouse at the Sawmill in Zaton
  • The cabin at the Dock Cranes in Zaton (The door is now unlocked!)

Added in v1.2:

  • Extended the Duty HQ bunk beds cover area in Rostok
  • Also, the locker room in the Duty HQ
  • The ground floor of the tall tower in Rostok
  • The western apartments in Pripyat leading to Jupiter
  • The eastern apartments in Pripyat leading to The Outskirts
  • Both southwestern and southeastern subways in Pripyat
  • A ground floor room in a building east of a crashed helicopter in Pripyat
  • Most of the Hotel interior in Pripyat
  • Both west and east stages in the Theater in The Outskirts
  • A green work cabin to the south in The Outskirts
  • Under the west and east staircases in the Kindergarten in The Outskirts
  • The high-up main apartment room next to the Vine Anomaly in the Outskirts

Added in v1.5:

  • Some parts of the three buildings around the Jupiter Plant
  • The building south of the Industrial Complex in Dark Valley
  • The cabin in the middle of Dark Valley
  • Extended coverage in the underground area near Jupiter Underground entrance
  • The laundry room with all the washing machines in The Outskirts
  • The room next to Strelok's room and the corridor leading to them
  • Extended coverage in the tunnel leading to the lab in Radar

I have included an edited version of zat_b22_medic_door.ltx changing the "@locked" to "@closed".

NOTE: The Meadow shop and flooded basement are built at an angle in the game, and my maths isn't yet good enough to calculate rotated rectangles, so stay in the middle of these places, and you will be okay! See bottom of description for How does it work?

Please feel free to suggest any other places that should be considered a safe shelter!
