SSRW2K 0.8.5 beta (Cuban Missile Crisis)
I present to you my Mod called SSRW2K, on the development of an alternative history of the Caribbean crisis of 1962 and the beginning of a full-scale nuclear war.
The mod is based on the game Sudden Strike: Resource War.
The idea of the mod is based on the game "Caribbean crisis" from the company "Nival", which was created at the "Blitzkrieg" bae.
The great powers fired strategic nuclear weapons at each other, turning many major cities in Europe, North America, and the Soviet Union into radioactive cemeteries. The surviving armies are fighting for the remaining resources and clean territories of the earth. The player will have access to military equipment from the 50s and 60s, as well as from the 40s, left over from the Second World War.
In view of the huge human losses, the loss of the technical and material part, various military and auxiliary equipment, the destruction of ammunition depots and fuel and lubricants. Destruction of industrial facilities. There was an acute situation at the front. Now the troops of the opposing countries use small and small tactical groups for reconnaissance and quick flank strikes. Due to the massive use of nuclear weapons in the European territory, the climate of the planet in the northern hemisphere begins to change dramatically. Many districts and regions are infected. Which makes it difficult to conduct large-scale military operations, and is not at all suitable for further human habitation.
Gameplay:
- it will be necessary to refuel units with fuel
- tanks and self-propelled guns will get a realistic sector view
- the crew will have a chance to get out of the damaged car
- smoke charges that form a real "fog of war", a good move for tactical tasks
- a hit or a close explosion can "immobilize" the vehicle, breaking the caterpillar
- it will be possible to repair buildings
- vehicles with open or unarmoured tops take damage from mines and explosions of HE shells, hand grenades
The main innovations of the mod:
- new system of damage, range, shooting accuracy, influence of experience and other parameters of units
- historical and unique units of those times (Soviet heavy tank IS-4 and 180mm howitzer S-23, American heavy tank М103, French light tank EVEN ELC, British armored car Saladin, German Patton, Czechoslovak air defense vehicle M53-59 Jesterka)
- there are units that have not previously been seen in the series of games and mods "Confrontation"
- appeared cumulative ammunition
- use of chemical weapons
- incendiary grenades
- new sounds
- new animation
- reworked infantry, introduced sergeant com. the composition and strength of the elite troops
- tactical aviation has napalm bombs.
- the participating countries are armed with the first generation of ATGMs, powerful, but not perfect weapons of that time
- shells of small and medium guns ricochet off the armor of heavy tanks and self-propelled guns
The concept of the game by resources has changed:
Now supply vehicles, engineering and tankers do not accumulate resources quickly. The supply of troops depends on the presence on the map of field warehouses with ammunition and building materials, tanks with fuel and lubricants. The control or capture of these points can determine victory for one of the belligerents, and doom the other to "shell hunger", fuel shortage and, accordingly, defeat.
The SSRW2K mod includes a set of units (land, air and navy) of the following armies:
- USSR
- USA
- France
- Germany
- Great Britain
- ATS unit (Poland, Czechoslovakia, East Germany)

There is a technique in the Mod, both with new graphics and with the old one, which has not yet been replaced, but was introduced to maintain the balance of the game.
