Ascendio - Manual Patching Guide

Installation might be slightly different depending on your region and system OS. This guide is made for usual Windows PC. It should apply to all versions of Windows (11 included), yet it has only been tested on Windows 1.0. Let's get into it!

Head to your Windows Search Bar and write "%localappdata%", then press enter.

Look for "Hogwarts Legacy" folder.

Look for "Saved" folder.

Look for "Config" folder.

Look for "WindowsNoEditor" folder.

Create a new folder here, called "backup".

Copy "Engine.ini" file.

Paste it on the "backup" folder you just created.

Head to the original ini file, on WindowsNoEditor.

Open it with your prefered text editor, Notepad will do.

Head to the end of the text file, and paste the following text.

[!] WARNING : be cautios not to redefine any parameters, in case you installed third party mods. If you don't know what I'm talking about, consider using the installer application instead to get the mod installed on your game.

Feel free to tweak Streaming.PoolSize to your needs, here are my
recommended specs, and the ones which will be an installation
option in Ascendio 1.1.0.

These are the recommended values for the current version of the
game (17721627, 02/10/2023, Release)

For 8 gb VRam or less ----> 2046
For 12gb VRam or less ----> 3072
For 16gb VRam or less ----> 4096

Please, note Ascendio's tweaks have different effects on different rigs. It seems to work for the most people, but some don't see any effect. This is a hotfix to try and reduce the amount of frame drops and stuttering on your game. It won't remove the stuttering completely, just reduce the amount you get.

If you keep struggling with performance, you can also try and use memory management tools like the one recommended on Ascendio's mod page, which should help with memory management issues, and also reduce the ammount of stutering.
