Slower Social Bunny Effects
Another small tweak for yet another thing that annoyed me while playing.
My sims kept gaining relationship points with random acquaintances, to the point that I was frequently getting "good friends" notifications with sims I hadn't interacted with in weeks. This really irritated me because normally, relationships are supposed to decay over time with no contact (as they do in real life) so I went looking to see if anyone knew what was up. Turns out other people have this issue too, and it's because of Social Bunny. So I decided to fix that.
How It Works:
There are 2 components to this.
The way Social Bunny posting works for sims is that they are on a sort of timer of about 10 hours. Every hour, for the first 9 hours, they will "react" to another sims post. On the 10th hour, they will post - either a public post or a DM to your sim. This means that sims are posting about 2 or 3 times a day. If the post involves your sim at all - so either a tagged public post or a DM - this will result in an impact on the relationship, regardless of whether or not you react to it, or even open the Social Bunny app (I guess sims all have notifications set to show on their phones' lock screen lol).
The actual effect on the relationship is 2 or 3 points gained in friendship or romance (or lost, in the case of mean posts). Since they post at least twice a day, relationship gain in one day can be anywhere from 4 to 9 points. For context, friendship decay is between 1 and 1.5 points per day. And this is before you consider any traits or buffs your sim may have that boost relationship gains/slow down decay; it's no wonder they're constantly maikng BFFs they've spoken to once in their lives.
What to get?
The slower_SB_posting package increases the timer from 10 hours to 50 hours, so instead of sims posting 2/3 times a day, they will now post every 2 days. This way, the relationship changes are getting triggered much less frequently, giving enough time for relationship decay to also have an effect.
The smaller_SB_rel_gains package adjusts the amount of relationship gains from posts, DMs and reactions alike, to 1.5 points or less for posts or DMs, and 0.5 for reactions. relationship losses are still between -1 and -3 because I think its realistic that mean comments on social media still hurt quite a bit.
You can get either or both of these packages. I have them both in my game at the moment.
