Packing Crates (04 May 2023)
Packing boxes, where you can put any in-game items (with a few exceptions) that normally cannot be placed in a Sim's luggage.
- The "Stash" feature has been added to all items. The action is not performed if there is no packing box on the lot.
- Added "Enable/Disable Packing" functionality to the crate (default: Disable). To enable, click on any box and select "Enable packaging".
- The first drawer is cloned from a corner table and can be used as furniture if desired. Costs $150.
- After packing the items, place the crate in the Sim's inventory, and with the crate, the Sim can move to another house. Boxes can also be used on the lot to store anything.
- The item from the box is removed by the usual "Move to the world", it will be not far from the box (always on the first floor). If there is no place for an item (for example, paintings and other wall decorations that are not automatically hung on the walls), it will end up in the family's luggage. The work of the mod is commented on the Bulletin Board.
- Sims can use their crate on someone else's lot. You can only pack items that belong to the Sim's family.
- Unpacked items will remain on someone else's lot, but will belong to the Sim's family. If you leave something on someone else's lot, you can always return to pick it up.
- After unpacking the box automatically opens again.
- Harvest cannot be packed, because. this leads to errors in the game.
Attention! When you remove the mod from the game, the box will disappear along with the contents - so unload it first.
Updated:
- When naming a crate, the default name "Packing Crate" is displayed correctly again in the dialog box.
- Objects with a garden component ("harvestable" plants) cannot be crated, as this will cause bugs in the game.
- Objects with a smooth puddle component (such as broken sinks or toilets) will no longer throw exception errors in the game as they try to create puddles inside the crate. The puddle component is disabled before the object is boxed.
Description
So, one afternoon about three weeks ago, my grown-up Sim wanted to clean up some of his parents' neat household items when he was away. He asked me if it was possible to move them from one house to another. "Not!" I replied: “It is simply impossible to do!” But he had an interesting idea: "What if you made a box that was big enough to hold a piano, but small enough for me to fit in my pocket?"
"Funny!" I said. "Impossible!" I snorted.
He just chuckled, "You made lockable doors, most people said it was impossible..."
It sounded like a challenge to me...and I love a good challenge.
After three weeks of work, many failed attempts and dead ends, and a serious amount of coffee,
this mod adds a "Pack in Crate" menu item to every item in the game (with a few exceptions) that can't normally be placed in an inventory. By selecting this menu item, you will search the tray for an empty packing box and move this item to your inventory. If the lot cannot have a packing box, the action will be cancelled.
Crates can be bought in Storage / Miscellaneous in build build for 150 simoleons. The crate has been cloned from an end table in the game and will also serve as an end table if you wish.
After packing items into a crate, the crate itself can be placed in a Sim's inventory and taken with them to their new home. Crates can also be left around the lot to be used as storage (or end tables).
To unpack the crate, place it in the world and open your inventory. Clicking on an item in the crate's inventory will select the "Place in the World" menu. The object will be placed next to the box (it will always be displayed on the first floor). If the game can't find a place for an object (eg paintings and other art won't be placed automatically), then the object will be placed in the household's inventory. Notifications will appear if problems occur.
Menu items and the ability to store objects in drawers are dynamically added as part of the mod's script, so this is compatible with custom content objects and all expansion packs (even new unreleased ones).
Warning! - It should be noted that if you uninstall the mod, all items that are stored in the boxes will disappear along with the boxes themselves! You can make sure to unpack all boxes on all batches before uninstalling the mod.
