So, for those who are having problems:
For a body preset to work you need to choose the body preset and click on batch build in the bodyslider menu
but this will make your character and all npcs have the same body
so I recommend using *OBODY* so that it randomly distributes all the body presets you have to all npcs
and allows you to choose this one for your character in game by pressing O.
