Medical School Student Mod (V2)

Requires:

EP01 Get to Work

EP03 City Living (for Podiums/Lectures)

EP08 Discover University

EP012High School Years (for Whiteboards)

XML Injector by SCUMBUMBO

Universal Venue List by Basemental OR Venue Changes by Zerebu. (I am personally using Zerebu's right now. But either is perfectly fine.)

This career is only available for Young Adults - Elders.

Please read CAREFULLY:

This version of the Medical Student mod offers an active career path. It means you will have the chance to see your Sims attend medical school! The career should be placed below the Doctor career.

You will get a notification to either join your Sim or send them alone. Of course, if you select Send Alone, your Sim will simply go to the rabbithole.

It is important to ensure that you have the Enable Follow Messages toggled on. This is what allows you to follow your Sim to medical school.

Placing the Medical School Lot:

Here are the steps to placing the medical school lot:

STEP 1: Find or create a medical school build. (If you need a quick build, click HERE to find the tray files to my Medical School. It is cc-free.)

STEP 2: Select Lot Type

STEP 3: From the drop-down menu, scroll down and select Medical School.

Now your build is classified as a medical school. You can place your medical school in ANY world and name it whatever you want! You can also visit the lot at any time.

This venue type has no required objects, but I STRONGLY suggest having the following:

 A FRONT DESK

CHEMICAL ANALYZERS

PODIUMS

X-RAY MACHINES

MICROSCOPES

COMPUTERS (Of course)

EXPRESSO BAR (This is only if you have the Get Together EP. This is so Sims can have coffee or get something quick to eat. If you don't have it, do not worry).

Applying to Medical School

As seen in version 1, your Sim will have the opportunity to apply to medical school! It will cost them §500. This feature is mainly for gameplay, as your Sim can still join the career, even if they don't 'apply'.

Career Track

In this version, I cut the career down to 7 levels, instead of 9. But it is the same for the most part, with a slight pay increase. (If you had version 1, you can skip this part):

Preclinical Med Student I: (§0)

Starting your journey into the medical field, you're diving into basic sciences and learning the foundational concepts of medicine. It's a challenging start, but with hard work, you'll build the knowledge needed for your future career.

Preclinical Med Student II: (§0)

With the first year behind you, you're now diving deeper into complex medical subjects. Balancing intense coursework and initial patient interactions, you're beginning to see how your studies apply to real-world healthcare.

Preclinical Med Student III: (§0)

Transitioning from the classroom to clinical rotations, you're getting hands-on experience in various specialties. Your understanding of medicine is growing rapidly as you apply your knowledge to real patients under supervision.

Preclinical Med Student IV: (§0)

In the final phase of your medical school journey, you're solidifying your skills and preparing for the next step. As you complete your rotations and apply for residency programs, you're focused on becoming a competent and compassionate doctor.

Intern: (§20)

Welcome to the first year of residency! As an intern, you're now a doctor, responsible for patient care under the guidance of senior physicians. The hours are long, but each day brings invaluable learning experiences and growth.

Resident: (§30)

As a Resident, you've transitioned from medical student to a full-fledged doctor in training. Now responsible for managing patients under the supervision of senior physicians, your role involves long hours, intense learning, and hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions. You'll rotate through different specialties, gaining a broad skill set and refining your expertise.

Fellow: (§45)

Specializing further, you're now a fellow, focusing on a particular area of medicine. This stage is all about mastering your chosen field, conducting research, and becoming a true expert before transitioning to an attending physician role.

Skills and Objectives:

This version adds the new Medical Science Skill that comes with 10 Levels! You can increase this skill by reading your textbook and writing lecture notes.

Other major skills your Sim will be focusing on in this career are Logic, Writing, Handiness, and Research & Debate.

Computer Interactions and Rabbitholes:

This version adds even more interactions and rabbithole activities for your Sims! As you explore, you will see that some activities won't be available until your Sim reaches a higher career level. Some of these interactions will be attached to your career objectives and your career goals. But they are also for realism and storytelling!

Textbooks:

In version 1 there were four textbooks. But this version I decided to go with three. Each will help your Sim gain in the Medical Science skill. They total to about §450 They're also located under the Skill category now. (NOTE: It is important that you replace the old textbooks in version 1, with these!!)

Lot Traits:

I decided to keep the Medical School Lot Trait. If you add it to your lot, it simply gives your Sim an inspired buff whenever they arrive.

Buffs:

Several buffs come in game with the various interactions!

Trait & Social Interactions:

I also created a CAS trait for your Sims who are/ or want to become medical students. The trait itself should be in the Lifestyle category.

Reward Traits:

Once your Sim becomes a Fellow, (the last level) they will be able to choose a specialty. Once they do, they will get a reward trait.

Social Interactions:

I added a few social interactions for students to have when they go to medical school. These will become relevant as you increase in your career levels, but feel free to experiment with them at any level!

Career Goals & Career Panel:

For each level you will have 3 career goal sets. Their order will randomize each day you attend work. As you level up, you will get a different set of goals. Sometimes the goals may repeat depending on how fast you finish them. In this panel, you will also have the opportunity to Leave Early or Extend your workday.

NPC's

At the medical school venue, you will see the following NPCs:

1 Medical Secretary: They will need a Front Desk on the lot.

3 Medical Professors: They will need a podium to lecture.

2 Doctors:  They don't need anything. But they will flock to microscopes and chemical analyzers.

2 Standardized Patients:  They aren't actual patients but are there for gameplay purposes. Your Sim can interact with them in the Patient Pie Menu. Sometimes they may spawn on the lot behind the Secretary's desk. Reset them so that they can move.

1 Medical Librarian: They tend to flock towards computers.

7 Medical Students: They tend to flock to computers, chemical analyzers, and microscopes.

Functional Objects:

This mod also includes 5 semi-functional whiteboards. Find them in Build Mode.  Start your search with "ellesimsworld_ " to make it easier for you!

This mod also allows the Skeleton from Get to Work to be semi-functional as well.

The Calibrate interaction on the X-Ray machine is now available to Medical Students too!

Lectures:

Here are a few important things to note about lectures:

• Professors will autonomously lecture for the most part of the day. As stated earlier, in order for professors to lecture, they will need a podium. Place at least ONE podium in each class/lab. If there is no podium, they might not do much. They are mainly tuned to lecture.

• Professors may lecture even with an EMPTY class lol. This is unfortunately a product of Sims not being too smart.

• In order to get other Sims to "attend" the lecture for realism, I suggest placing computers in the class/lab. Sims tend to flock to where computers are.

• The "Attend Lecture Goal" you will get at medical school, simply means to sit in a class where a professor is and write lecture notes. (This interaction is under the Medical Student pie menu on the computer)

I thought it would be an excellent addition to add the ability to have counters to be used as storage chests. This way you can decorate how you want and not worry about fitting misc items in your build just for storage.
