The Sims 4 Mod: Copy Worlds
Cloning worlds by hand is long and tedious, so I made this mod to automate the process. It allows you to quickly copy the current world using a cheat.
How to Use
With the mod installed, open the cheat console while in the world you want to copy (either in Build Mode or Live Mode), enter worlds.copy, and a dialog will appear where you can enter the name of the new world. Enter the name then click OK, then save*, return to the main menu and reload. That’s it, you now have a new world in your game!
*I strongly recommend saving to a new file in case something goes wrong. World cloning is still an experimental process so there might be unknown bugs.
The mod also comes with a bonus cheat, worlds.rename, which allows you to rename existing worlds.
Limitations and Notes
There are some limitations with world cloning. These aren’t specifically caused by the mod, and will apply even if you copy a world manually with the tutorial linked above.
- Apartments and penthouses do not currently work properly. This includes the ones in Britechester. All copies of apartments and penthouses share the same set of objects, so changes to one will effect all the others.
- All instances of a world will show the same background lots as one instance (this can be either the original or the copy, depending on which the game detects first). While this isn’t game breaking, it could be distracting for a lot of people.
- Trying to place a lot from the gallery, from map view, on a lot that has never been accessed will cause the game to be stuck on “Building Lot”. To able to place lots from the gallery, you’ll first need to enter Build Mode (or visit it in Live Mode). Most likely, the game needs to acess data that doesn’t exist until the lot loads for the first time.
- Moving a household into a copy will temporarily change the original in the world select screen to a copy of the copy. Going into Live Mode fixes the problem.
- Some off-lot objects won’t appear in copy worlds. This is because those objects are technically part of a premade lot rather than being attached to the world itself. You can add your own objects with TwistedMexi’s T.O.O.L mod.
- Lots that have never been visited or edited will show the image of the premade lot that was in their place, even though they’re actually empty.
