Dynamic Teen Life v2.1  

Hello All,

This has been a lot more work than I anticipated (mostly my fault, I kept adding things to it) so I apologize for the delay but it's finally here. I wanted to spice some things up for my teen sims because let's face it, High School Years gave us so much and I love it so far, but I just needed it to be a tiny bit more fleshed out and this was my attempt to cover more of the social aspects of teen life as opposed to school life. Hope you enjoy!

Features

There are currently six modules and a core and three optional modules. You can install as many or as few modules as you like. Don’t want popularity? Don’t install? Just want After School Activites. Install the core and that module and that’s it. The Core is required for the mod to work!

Emotions

There are also more options available in journals which will affect their character values

Mood Swings

Mood swings have been altered to be less powerful so they won't result in emotional deaths.

Mental Health

Sims can talk to others about their feelings and mental health, seek help with a counselor on the phone, attend support group, or call the hotline to speak with someone when their emotions get the better of them.

More After School Activities

There are seven new After School Activities. If you have other packs or Ilkavelle's Realistic Swimming mod you will have more options, but only Adventure Club requires a pack to complete its daily task.

Adventure Club - Requires Snowy Escape

This club focuses on outdoor adventures from rock climbing to hiking to hitting the slopes on skis or a snowboard. Sims will also work on handiness to be able to fix and repair equipment. Tryouts are available on the phone. Sims have weekly excursions on Fridays.

Arts and Crafts Club- BG compatible

This club focuses on arts and crafts. Sims can spend time on painting, cross-stitching, knitting, or fabrication. Tryouts are available on the sketchpad. Sims have weekly Arts Showcases on Fridays

Mock Trial Team - BG compatible

This club focuses on persuasive arguments and research. Sims will work on logic, charisma, and research and debate if Discover University is installed. Tryouts are available on the phone. Sims have weekly Mock Trials on Fridays.

Performing Arts Club - BG compatible

This club focuses on performing arts everything from playing an instrument, to singing, acting, and dancing. Sims will work on charisma and performance skills. Tryouts are available on the phone. Sims have weekly Performances on Fridays.

STEM Club - BG compatible

This club is for those who enjoy working with technology and science. Sims focus on logic, rocket science, and robotics. Tryouts are available on the phone. Sims have weekly competitions on Fridays.

Student Council - BG compatible

This club is for those who want to influence policies and enjoy making decisions. Sims will work on charisma, logic, and research and debate. Sims must sign up to campaign for Student Council on the phone and canvas their fellow students in-person to get votes. Election results can be retrieved from the phone after securing at least 1 vote. If elected, Sims will participate in weekly Votes on topics important to the student body.

Swim Team - BG compatible

This club is for those who enjoy swimming and love to compete. Sims focus on fitness and the swimming skill, if Ilkavelle's mod is installed. Tryouts are available on the phone. Sims have weekly Swim Meets on Fridays

Popularity System

Teens can now experience the nebulous and elusive facade of popularity. Some sims are more popular than others. When loading your household, your sim will be assigned a rank based on a variety of factors including skills, traits, social groups, fame, followers, after school activities, household net worth, and more. Other teens will also have statuses. Sims can ask other Sims how to be popular and if popular, Boast or Tease other Sims about not being popular.

In addition, Sims can vary in how they feel about being popular: some sims will be indifferent, some sims will not care at all, and some sims will care a great deal. Sims popularity is not static. It can be lost or gained from a variety of factors over time including joining or leaving social groups, joining or leaving after school activities, gaining or losing skills, changes in Sims personalities, etc.

Benefits of being popular include higher success of all social interactions, Sims have a strong desire to interact with popular Sims, more invitations, higher chances of success in friendships and romance, and easier entry into social groups and after school activities.

Disadvantages of being unpopular can include a social disadvantage in social relationships (unless Sims are related or already friends), less success in social relationships, Sims tend to have a low desire to interact with them if not friends, and are slightly disadvantaged in forming romantic relationships. Sims who care about being popular may interrupt Unpopular sims if they're talking to them so as not to be caught conversing with an unpopular sim

Romantic Life

Parents can now have a say in whether or not Teens can date. Sims must first ask permission for dates. Teens can choose to go on forbidden dates if parents don't approve of dating and may get caught. They can also ask parents to reconsider their position

Social Groups

Are you a member of the Womp Jocks, Artist Collective, Nerd Brains, Rebel Rousers, Floaters, or even a Cool Llama? Who is your rival group? Do you get annoyed whenever they're around?

Now Sims will be categorized into one of five cliques.

The social groups sims are rolled into depend on a variety of factors, mostly traits, and include traits, skills, schools/after school activities, likes, dislikes, popularity, fame, followers, and more. Being in a social group makes it easier for sims to excel at the skills that the group places the most importance on. Womp Jocks get a Fitness boost, Floaters and Cool Llamas small Charisma and large Charisma boost respectively, Artist Collective a painting boost, Rebel Rousers a mischief boost, and Nerd Brains a logic boost.

Each group has its own rivalry and Sims have a specific rival from the group when they join. They can choose to ask other Sims about joining a different social group which may or may not be allowed by that member depending on how well the Sim scores for that group. Additionally Sims are able to complain about their rival group, explain to anyone why their group is the best, and mock their rivals. Sims also have a chance to be annoyed when around a rival group member or feel a boost of happiness around Sims in their social group.

On occasion, Sims may be invited by Womp Jocks, Artistic Collective, or Nerd Brains to join their group if they're eligible. Cool Llamas, Rebel Rousers, and Floaters don't issue invitations; Cool Llamas and Rebel Rousers because they don't care whether or not you join and Floaters becomes they welcome everyone from the get-go.

Social Life

More Invitations

It annoyed me that Sims could only be invited to places if they had the special HSY window installed on the lot. So this mod adds some similar and some new invites for all teens regardless of whether or not HSY is installed. They happen regularly on the weekend either Friday or Saturday nights. I will be adding many more in the future. If you use Basemental's mod and experiment some Basemental effects will occur.

Just like with High School Years, your sim can ask permission to go out. If permission is denied, your sim can sneak out. There is a good chance upon returning your sim will be caught and reprimanded but sometimes sneaking back in is successful! Parenthood discipline is available for sneaking teens.

New Activities

If you ever used my Youth and Families Activities mod you'll be familiar with the options for more rabbit hole activities for Teens. I have updated and expanded them and added in new compatibilities for this mod. Sims can take multiple sims with them on their adventures and will come back with buffs. If you use Basemental's mod and experiment some Basemental effects will occur. Available activities include:

Gossip and Rumors

I've added two new interactions, Gossip about Classmate and Spread Nasty Rumor about Classmate. Gossip about Classmate will result in your sim telling or hearing (since it's autonomous) gossip about someone at school. Spreading a Nasty Rumor will allow your sim to choose whom to spread a rumor about. The relationship with that Sim will be affected if the sim is in range of hearing the rumor or gossip about them. They may also choose to intervene.

GF Addon

Adds audition requirements to Drama Club

HSY Addons

Adds tryout requirements to new after school activities. Tryouts are available on the phone or computer (for Computer Team only). Additionally Sims can play chess against a chess member, throw the football with a football team member to make the team.

Adds ability for popularity to influence prom court.

Notes: There are cheats available for some aspects of this mod. They are available in the game's cheats menu which can be accessed once testing cheats are enabled and by shift+clicking on your sim. The cheats are available for both your Sim and other Sim's in your Sim's presence.

Parenthood is required for the Emotions module.

The Adventure Club After School Activity does require Snowy Escape.

Addons require either Get Famous or High School Years.
