Stay Home From School - Keep germy kids home!
Surely each of us from time to time missed a couple of school days due to poor health without any different information there. Now our wards will have such an opportunity. And the fact that it turns out - the child is sick, goes to school, spreads the infection. This is not good! With this mod, you will have a choice - to spread the infection around the school or not.
Updated for 1.99's "aventure_moment" typo fix.
A quick heads-up on compatibility with Adeepindigo's Education Overhaul and/or Summer Camp mods: the shared tuning for these mods does conflict with the feature giving players choice whether or not to keep a child home from school, so if you prefer the consequence system of this mod for sending a sick child to school, please put this mod in either your "Overrides" folder if you have a resource.cfg giving that folder priority (like coolspear's version of the file) OR have this mod in a folder named higher in the alphabet like "!Stay Home" or "AAAStay Home" to have it take priority.
I made a small update for this standalone package (it will be in the next Private Practice update as well) to fix some potential annoyances like being asked if an npc walkby child should stay home and the consequence features not properly triggering due to EA's handling of actions while a child is at school. Also made it possible to grant a day off for any afterschool activities (if a child has school the same day, you won't get a second pop-up). If you currently use Private Practice, you can load this in a higher priority folder as described above or you can wait until the next update :3
Here is a mod that has been sitting in my mods folder for ages; for so long it now even has a conflict (see below for info).
What it does: adds all GTW illnesses, SOL Sicknesses (checked for by Visit Hospital) + SOL Preventable Diseases, Private Practice custom illnesses (though PP users DO NOT need this mod; see IMPORTANT below), Healthcare Redux illnesses, and Toddler Sicknesses to the game's "sickness database" list of sorts. The game uses these 2 test sets to determine if a sim child should miss school. In vanilla gameplay, it only checks if a sim has any of a handful of symptom buffs from GTW; this package changes that and makes a sick child sim stay home as long as they have the sickness itself.
Players now have a choice to keep a sim child home from school or not. Be warned though: a sick child's school performance will be negatively impacted by going to school while not feeling their best.
**IMPORTANT**
IF YOU HAVE PRIVATE PRACTICE: You DO NOT need this mod because this is integrated in Private Practice already. PP illnesses are included on this standalone list for sake of consistency. This standalone version is meant for players who do NOT have PP installed. HOWEVER, as of 7/11/22, you are free to use this standalone temporarily if you've found certain issues unbearable and do not want to wait for the next Private Practice update. Please follow the compatibility suggestions below.
One of the xmls altered DOES conflict with KawaiiStacie's Visit Hospital mod, but you can very easily use both mods by putting the Stay Home From School file in a folder using a letter that comes before wherever you choose to put the Visit Hospital mod. For example, put the Stay Home From School in a folder that says "AAAAStayHome."
Stay Home From School does also check for the same buffs as Visit Hospital, so you will not have to worry about losing functionality, and can use Visit Hospital the same way you usually would.
The shared tuning files for Adeepindigo's Education Overhaul and Summer Camp mods shares the child autosick loot xml; it also gives player choice for a child to stay home, so if you prefer that version over this one, you can have it load on a higher priority (Adeepindigo is pretty high on the alphabet, so you shouldn't have to worry), and the same can be said for if you prefer this mod's handling of the loot xml.
